  • (Witness) Letter: He was mentioned in the letter of Mary Lucy Connor on 29 December 1954; 1220 Maple Ave
    Evanston, Ill
    December 29, 1954

    Dear Rose:
We received your nice card and were glad to hear from you, but sorry that you hurt your leg and had to go to the Sanitarium. I hope you are feeling much better now and will soon be well.
Ann Phelan like it very much at Sacred Heart and enjoyed meeting you and Genevieve.
It is good of Genevieve to think of having us out and I wish we lived nearer so we could see each other oftener. Right now we are rather tied down on account of Will's illness. He suffered a severe stroke almost five years ago and has been an invalid ever since.
He lost his speech as well as being paralyzed and lately he does not see very well so it is quite pitiful.
If you or any of the family have a car, and are out this way, we would love to see you all. I often wish I had learned to drive when I was younger - We might have kept Charlie's car. We still miss him so much.
Well, we had good Christmas weather - It was nice getting out to Mass under the stars. The rest of the week has been so unusual with rain, snow, wind and today thunder and lightening. I'm afraid there will be many accidents.
Father Charles Sullivan came out to see Will the Sunday before Christmas. He looks real well now but I think he has too much to do. The Jesuits work hard.
Perhaps someday we can get together and have a good visit. In the meantime we all wish you and yours health and happiness in the new year.
    Sincerely yours,
    Mary Connor.15
