June Mary Sullivan, 85 Burlington, died April 23, 2011, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born on Jan. 12, 1926, to the late Euphemia and Walter Goehausen, in Webster Groves, Mo., where she was raised.
She married Robert L. Sullivan on June 12, 1948. He preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 2009.
She was an accomplished artist studying under master painter Jim Prohl at Milwaukee's Atlier Prohl. She produced a remarkable body of work that consisted of portraits and still lifes. Her mediums of choice were oils and pastels. While honing her painting and drawing skills, she found great joy in the close friendships she established with fellow artists Lois Massey, Judye Frankowiak and Kitty Dyble-Thompson. She also traveled to China and Wales to study the art of those countries.
Survivors include her children, Sharry (Mark Zeile) Sullivan, Bob (Patti) Sullivan, Kevin Sullivan, Susan (Bob) Rubach, Mo (Reid) Olson, Paul (Rhonda) Sullivan, Patrick (Debra Patterson) Sullivan and Maggie McCollum; grandchildren, Maggie (Ben) Humm, Jonathan (Betsy Blodgett) Goetz, Caitlin Goetz, Patrick (Sarah) Sullivan, Annie (Adam) Reesman, Mark Sullivan, Timothy Sullivan, Kelly (Nick) Kumba, Sean Sullivan, Paul Rubach, Jill Rubach, Carly Rubach, Myles Olson, Alex Sullivan, Jake Sullivan, Maureen McCollum, Molly McCollum, Gifford, Jesse and Daniel Kasen; great-grandchildren, Soren Humm, Cormac Sullivan, Madelyn Reesman and Hannah June Reesman; her sister, Barbara Harrison (Jack); sisters-in-law, Miriam Goehausen, Madeleine Goehausen, Camille Goehausen, Patricia McSweeney; brother-in-law, Richard Sullivan; many nieces and nephews.
She was further preceded in death by her grandson, Shawn Patrick Goetz; and brothers, Walter Goehausen, Myles Goehausen and Donald Goehausen.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, April 28, from 4-6 p.m., at St. Charles Catholic Church, Burlington, with a memorial Mass at 6:30 p.m. The Rev. Joseph Debski will officiate. Private inurnment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is assisting the family.
Memorials to Haylofters Inc., a Burlington community theater for which June painted scenery for many productions, are suggested.
